This wine has our most loyal following and it is no surprise as to why. It is an extremely lush and balanced wine with savory layers which finishes long with superbly grainy tannins. The 2013 vintage will most likely go down in history as one of the best for the Napa Valley and this site, despite the grandness of the vintage, has stayed true to its style that is inherent from this vineyard. So much like the Graves area in Bordeaux, the wine is perfumy, layered and rich without being overripe. Aromatics of dark fruit, plum and spice with notes of chocolate and violet are made prevalent in a wine that exhibits denseness, opulence and softness. There is almost a merlot-ish quality to the wine even though it represents only 5% of the blend. A stunning wine with too many nuances to describe, a must have for any collector.

Both the Cabernet franc and Merlot were the first to be planted on this parcel of land in 2004. Possessing a deep garnet color, the aromatics boast dark fruit, plum, mocha and pepper. This wine has a velvety texture, yet it is juicy, rich and dense along with amazing acidity which provides a great structural backbone. The tannins are leathery, the finish is very powerful and the cabernet franc elements are simply delightful. Another excellent vintage of proprietary red from Mekerra which is sure not to disappoint.

Both the Cabernet franc and Merlot were planted first on this parcel of land in 2004. Their age and our understanding of the vineyard have allowed us to craft an amazing blend from this Estate. The aromatics are distinctive for the varietals - fig jam, dried violet, cedar, black pepper, lavender and red currant fruits. Big, sumptuous and very concentrated, this wine is opulent without being heavy. It finishes long with unexpected freshness. Recommended to decant.

2015 was a very warm year which resulted in wines rich in concentration and this wine from our high elevation vineyard is no exception. The aromatics are so expressive and enticing showing a typicity of Cabernet franc, dry herbs and undertones of ripe compote which give this nose a wow factor. There is a loamy, muscular tension to the wine that
segues into its energy in the mouthfeel resulting in a wine that exudes balance and
age-worthiness - a must add to the cellar.

This is a great example of how a wine can go from great to outstanding by pushing the boundaries a bit. One of our personal favorites to date, even over the 2012.
The 2014 is a superb blend from our high elevation mountain vineyard and is a testament to the 7 years of wines being produced from it. A perfumey nose full of smoke, tar, raspberries and herbs leads into a silky sweet entry that has a smooth creaminess with great energy and brightness. An extremely inviting wine that leans more towards having a merlot-like influence despite the Cabernet franc in slightly higher proportion. The finish boasts sublime tannins and pure finesse.

This superb Cabernet franc blend from our mountain vineyard is an explosive example of an amazing vintage. The aromas of wild raspberries and graphite fill the glass with an impact that begs you to taste. The resultant wine is lush, dense, creamy, layered, stunningly pure with acidity that is well integrated in this powerhouse wine. The Cabernet franc brings nerve and structure to this serious wine while the Merlot offers its friendliness and lushness. Affectionately referred to as "The Beast" by Philippe, this powerhouse wine from our vineyard high in elevation in Knights Valley is definitely our best effort to date. With a blend this particular year favoring the strength of the Cabernet franc, its structure and aromatics provide an equal punch on all levels. The Merlot brings beautiful floral notes to the nose along with spice and dark fruit while the Cab franc brings the acidity and the tannins to create this amazingly opulent wine with stunning purity. Above the fog at 2,500 feet during the 2011 growing season was one of the keys to the success of this wine, helping the grapes achieve full maturity with concentrated flavors. Aromatics of blackberry and tobacco mixed with floral notes and spice explode in this dense and lush wine. Beautifully balanced with a long and lingering finish, this wine will age 15-25 years easily. Decanting this wine is recommended to fully express the personality and the strength of our vineyard.

The 2009 exhibitis a pure expression of cabernet franc, one of our favorite varietals. We harvested the merlot and cabernet franc the last week of September under perfect conditions where warm nights provided full ripeness of the skin tannins. The 2008, which is nearly equal parts Cabernet franc and Merlot, exhibits a style that is slightly plumper and denser than the 2007. "This is truly a Merlot made for Cab lovers - a wine meant for aging that has many layers of complexity
and richness."
~ Philippe and Cherie Melka, proprietors
Our first production of single varietal Merlot coming from this 2300 foot elevation vineyard in Knights Valley. The Merlot that complements the Cabernet franc in our Proprietary Red has proven to be so voluptuous, that we decided to bottle some on its own. The nose screams chocolate, cherry, ripe and sweet and the surprise comes when the wine enters the mouth. Silky, sensuous and not at al over extracted, this expression of this varietal is spot on. We say goodbye to the movie "Sideways" with this stunning Merlot.

Our tenth vintage from this amazing vineyard that meets the high standards needed to produce a Syrah of distinction. Fermented in concrete and oak puncheons with no whole cluster this year in large part to maintain its freshness. The aromatics of dark red fruit, dry herbs, plum and sweet oak make for a very savory impression of the wine. The entry is soft and plush with freshness and vibrancy, which is what makes this wine so beautifully structured and balanced. The finish on this wine has such incredible length and the elegant tannins remind us of why we love Syrah.

~ Philippe and Cherie Melka, proprietors
What a fun vintage for a French winemaker - back to the tradition of low alcohol and finesse. It felt like we were in Bordeaux and not California. This wine's blend composition is a reflection of the vintage. Having selected out all the Cabernet that did not meet our standards, the resultant wine is a round, sumptuous wine with silky tannins with notes of black currant fruit, tobacco, mocha, and cedar that combine with a long and lingering finish. This Cabernet is lush, delicious and loaded with character.

Our second vintage of CJ blanc is a beautiful expression of sauvignon blanc boasting lemon curd, lemon zest and floral notes of white flowers, fresh citrus and pomelo with a hint of reduction. On the palate it is super vibrant and acid driven with medium body and hint of French oak. The wine is very juicy and fresh with a hint of bitter green grass, lemon zest, a touch of passion fruit and fresh tarragon.
