This wine has our most loyal following and it is no surprise as to why. Similar to the Graves region in Bordeaux, the wine is consistently perfume, with many layers that are so signature of the Jumping Goat vineyard. The nose is inviting, intriguing and intense boasting seductive dark cherry with hints of tar and oak.
This two acre, west facing, hillside vineyard situated in the appellation of St. Helena is adjacent to the Melka Winery. The soils are full of obsidian and these 30+ year old vines have an amazingly deep root system. The aromatics lean toward cassis and raspberry with lavender and Mediterranean spices.
Our debut vintage of this wine coming from Pritchard Hill at 1200 feet above St. Helena. With the rich, red, iron filled soils that many have come to appreciate, the Martinez Vineyard has been a labor of love and we are very proud to have created a wine with such dimension.
Having fallen in love with the Merlot from this vineyard, we've decided to commit ourselves to producing this single varietal bottling to show consumers a truly well-made Merlot. The aromatics show concentration and youthfulness boasting dark fruit laced with rich undertones of compote which lead into an amazing mid palate. The wine finishes with amazing balance and finesse. It is generous and firing on all cylinders - attack, mid palate and finish. A multi-dimensional wine of exceptional quality.
2015 was a very warm year which resulted in wines rich in concentration and this wine from our high elevation vineyard is no exception. The aromatics are so expressive and enticing showing a typicity of Cabernet franc, dry herbs and undertones of ripe compote which give this nose a wow factor. There is a loamy, muscular tension to the wine that segues into its energy in the mouthfeel resulting in a wine that exudes balance and age-worthiness - a must add to the cellar.
Our fifth vintage from this stunning high elevation vineyard and we are extremely proud of this effort. Reminiscent of the 2011, our first release of this wine from La Mekerra, it has the distinctive aromatics that distinguish it from any other Sauvignon blanc. Ripe tropical and exotic fruits with notes of peaches, pineapple, pink grapefruit and anise. The nose reveals that this is a wine full of power and minerality. Superbly balanced with great acidity, this 2015 is a classic for the vintage showing focus and purity.
This small production of Chardonnay from our high elevation vineyard is becoming a joy to produce. The aromatics announce a wine that is inviting and full of elegance, sporting banana, apricot, tropical notes and loaded with minerality. It is creamy and rich with lively acid and a long balanced lingering finish. The aromatics perfectly match the mouthfeel and this refined Chardonnay would pair nicely with any unctuous creme based dessert.
Our sixth vintage from this stunning vineyard, the 2016 exhibits aromatics of blackberry, blueberry and violets along with a smoky, meaty quality. The nose is very opulent and inviting. The richness follows through to the pallet with an incredible seamlessness showing balanced tannins and a lingering finish.
Our first effort on a classic Rhone style blend from the Paderewski Vineyard in Paso Robles. Knowing that the limestone from this vineyard is amazing for the Syrah, we were tempted to create a Melka GSM. With inviting aromatics of raspberry fruit, rose petal and slight spiciness, this wine shows excellent purity of the three varietals. Grenache for its cherry notes, Syrah for the spice and Mouvedre providing plenty of tannin.
Our tenth vintage from this amazing right bank vineyard that we have grown so fondly of. France had an early, warm summer and was graced with some beautiful wines coming from Bordeaux. This wine has inviting blueberry notes with creaminess, oak and spice showing seductive and elegant attributes.
